Our Ranger3 product is a 3D camera built on the principle of laser triangulation. The camera is an embedded device with a large number of configuration parameters, e.g., exposure time, detection threshold and region of interest. For a user, it is not always easy to understand how to set the parameters to get optimal image quality. It would be a big boost in usability for our customers if we could help them setting key configuration parameters in an automated/assisted way. For example, visualizing the target with the camera, and collecting various 2D and 3D data, should make it possible to auto-tune parameters optimized for different criteria.

The task of this thesis is to investigate possible ways to auto-tune parameter settings of the device given the input from 2D/3D data. That is, a tool for automatic parameter settings. One thing to investigate is if AI technology can be of use here.
