Location

Linköping

Apply by

2022-10-14

The goal of the thesis is to investigate efficient methods to compress image data in an embedded camera system to reduce data transfer time and/or to reduce storage space requirements for recorded images for later analysis. Compression is also useful to reduce storage space requirements of teach image data in application configurations.

Evaluate if the implementation is more efficient when implemented with FPGA acceleration, or if CPU implementation is a better choice, depending on HW platform.

 The master thesis work focuses on the following:

  • Evaluate compression methods
  • Investigate performance on different embedded camera platforms
  • Evaluate if an FPGA implementation will improve performance

 Prerequisites

You will benefit from experience in some of the following fields:

  • Programming (mainly C/C++)
  • FPGA
  • Embedded systems (Linux)
  • Image processing
