What you will do
The SICK Nova team consist of 15 developers with a mix of experiences, age and gender. The work is being done using agile methodologies having a very tight collaboration with the product managers. We work in a continuous integration (CI) environment with test automation on the target.

SICK Nova is an application that runs on our industrial sensors, that helps users with or without programming knowledge to easily setup and solve their vision applications. Nova consists of Lua scripts running on a programmable sensor, together with a web user interface for configuration and visualization. We continuously run our system test suite that what is written in python (pytest). Currently the communication between the sensor and the computer running the test suite is done via web sockets and http requests. This summer internship is about to investigate if this interface could be standardized, so writing test and other python helper could do the application easier. If python classes could be generated from the Lua scripts, that would be helpful!

If you have an interested in programming, user experience, curious about how modern applications that runs industrial cameras works and want to be a part of our continuous improvement’s efforts, you are warmly welcome to contribute!
